1. Connection and tool check
All OK, exept audio from SSEES broken up

Kris has been testing micrphones with PC audio cards, and will order new heardsets with implified mics.

2. Update on structured activities

Polish cancelled this week - Kasia, the tutor was ill.

Seminars:

ACTION 98/02/27-1: KH and JC to test sound card/headsets at SSEES again before next Polish session on Monday  morning.

PH & LC Spanish for Lawyers: Tutor needs more training - a bit overwhelmed in the first couple of sessions.

JB & GS - more lecture than interactive tutorial

LC & MAS - tutor thinks students' capability different levels; also new to law
terms, hence she spoke

Seminars:

MAS and KH will go to Essex to hold another tutor workshop.

LP - Will UCL be at SSEES for a familiarisation session with the students?
MAS - Yes

LP - Postpone the start of the session till 15.15 as SSEES don't have access
to the room until 15.00,

Seminars:

Seminar from Westminster:

MAS - DH's seminar well received at UCL

JB - Well received at Exeter, too - content was very helpful, especially for
Andriano (Italian tutor at Aber), who had not used the technology
before, and who had lots of questions

ACTION 98/02/27-2 DAVE PRICE TO PROVIDE ABSTRACT FOR SEMINAR NEXT WEEK ASAP

3. AOB

3.1 bandwidth testing prExeter/Aberings

GS - plan was to see how far capacity could be pushed (up to 2Mb) - whilst
monitoring everything possible - Aber --> Exeter ok, problems withoutgoing
traffic -  from Exeter to Bath at ~1 Mb.

CSP - vic bugs reports (incorrectly) high instances of packet loss

GS - mtraces confirmed the observation; still investigating cause.  15% loss
occured on one internal link at Aber - decreased with increasing
bandwidth - DAP still investigating - sounds similar to problems
with bogus ICMP packets from rogue router (as previously discussed
     on email)

3.2 Continuing audio card problems

LC - using Daytona card - received audio gets "wonky" after 10-15 mins -
     audio sent is fine

ACTION 98/02/27-3 - KH to test/investigate and report to mailing list

3.3 Network quality after changes to Mbone config

HH - mcast routers being monitored - how  have changes affected quality of
     sessions?

SL - things have improved at Essex, since changes were made a few weeks
     ago
(still getting 40% loss right now though - due to ULCC problem)

GS - during SfL session on Thu 4-5pm 15-20% loss on RAlinkC
rtpdumps and mtraces on Exeter PIPVIC pages

DH - rtpdump from yesterday's seminar to be saved for later analysis

DH - Will upgrading Westminster (which is not on a main link) to 2mb make a
difference? (Will be upped next week)

HH - access links at all sites should have been upgraded to 2Mb

ACTION 98/02/27-4- DAP to report loss between 2 routers at ULCC to NOSC
