As I understand it, the $1000 ($999 actually) is for the 3Com 3L programming
library of drivers for all of their boards - forms a common calling interface
which is also compatible with NETBIOS and 3+, etc. Needless to say, I didn't
come up with the $1000 - if you get past the sales critters there ARE
marketing and engineering people at 3Com with the real Engineering reference
specs for the hardware that you might get a copy of.
I hope someone at 3Com is listening, because not everyone has $1000 to throw
at one company when there are so many good competitors out there....
