My recent message left out a fine point. ISDN may in fact provide 64-kbps
ubiquitous interface, but a significant fraction of interoffice transport
will still be anaolg, with conversion where required. This means you can
ask (using the D channel) for 64-kbps data service, but the network may
tell you thanks, but no anyway. You may ask for 9.6-kbps data and the
network may be happy to oblidge you, then depreciate the modems at ratepayer
expense.

Hang on to your Telebits for awhile, at least.
