DS-3 is a reality for many people who either mux it down to manageable
bandwidth channels or build special interfaces that can push/pull data
at 45 Mbit/sec.
About your earlier messages concerning trusting local I/O and not doing
checksums end to end (by implication) - we have tried that in the past and
been burned - what is different today? Fiber? The problem is that the end
to end channel may still contain some weakness in terms of S/N and bit
error rate. I'd rather see silicon checksums to speed them up than doing
away with them because they take time...
