    I'd say HMP belonged at the transport layer. It can be reasonably
neatly dropped into a binary bsd kernel as a transport protocol, and
it has the usual transport functions (transport user addressing, sequence
numbers, etc).

    As for the four level ARM -- I recently argued to someone that we're
approaching five levels:


The argument being that while we have no standard Presentation layer,
we are certainly using presentation schemes (XDR, Courier, ASN.1, multimedia
formats, etc.)
