In the SET HOST protocol (CTERM) DEC uses a one or several longwords passed
from the remote side to indicate what characters the local size should terminate
the QIO request. Thus echoing and deleting of characters is performed on the
local end and sent only when one of the characters listed as a terminator is
hit. DEC also sends a length field which will terminate the QIO and send the
data when X number of characters have been sent.
With the above method both "line at a time" and single character transfers
can be requested.
