The TELNET spec (RFC 854, pp. 11-12) says that the line terminator is
to be the pair of characters CR-LF (\r\n if you prefer). I have seen
problems in both UNIX user telnet (sending just \n) and server telnet
(not interpreting \r\n properly). This particular bit of UNIX chauvinism
seems to be rather difficult to stamp out. The problem has been discussed
on this list more than once in the past. It often comes up when one tries
to communicate between a UNIX machine and something else.
