One of the important features of X.25 and other packet-oriented services
(and of DOD TCP/IP or ISO TP/IP, etc.) is the ability to support many
simultaneous virtual connections. The ISDN facilities will not replace
that functionality if level 3 is erased and only level 2 remains and
only supports a single connection at a time. ISDN does provide for a
packet mode interface which is basically a level 3 construct.
I do not see that the pt-pt 64 kb/s service from ISDN will render the
multi-connection modes of operation useless.
