RFC 985 "Requirements for Internet Gateways" specifies
functions that are available, in some form, in some products
from suppliers such as Proteon (P4200), Bridge, Cisco, etc.
At RPI we have had some experience with the P4200 product
through its use in NYSERNet. We are considering evaluating
other competing products for further use on campus in
connecting LANs to a backbone.
This note is to ask for feedback from current users of such
products -- in particular those from Bridge, CMC, Cisco.
Warnings welcome; cheers accepted cheerfully.
