UMDNET hosts to change addresses

Effective 0700 EST on March 12, 1987 a subset of UMDNET hosts will change
their addresses. All of the hosts on subnet 0 (those hosts whose addresses
are of the form 128.8.0.x) will change to subnet 10. For example,
UMD5.UMD.EDU currently has the internet address It's address
will change to An updated HOSTS.TXT will be available from
the NIC on that day.

Please note that the current domain name servers (TRANTOR.UMD.EDU
and NEOTRANTOR.UMU will migrate to TRANTOR.UMD.EDU at,

People who query the UDP TIME and UDP NTP servers on UMD1.UMD.EDU
should query UMD1.UMD.EDU after the conversion. Please note
that we actively discourage people from using TCP/TIME.
