I know there are a lot of sites that still don't use the name server.
I thought y'all might want to see the following notice so there
isn't as much bouncing mail on the 25th...

This applies to the hosts in the 'wisc.edu' domain.

Subject: IMPORTANT ARPANET INFO

On Friday, April 25, we will be converting to a new set of Internet
host numbers on ALL local machines. The change is motivated by a
desire to provide a more organized, more expandable network
environment.

On the 'flag day', you will not notice any difference on local
machines. We expect to complete the local conversion process sometime
during the early morning (4:00-6:00am). You may still reference
machines by whatever names you called them before, although their
associated numbers will be different. Expect most local machines to be
down sometime during that (4-6am) period for conversion (this includes
the workstations).

The problems with the conversion will come from outside sites on
ARPANET who may not have up to date host tables. The Network
Information Center will have prepared a new hosttable in advance of the
conversion, so sites that are on the ball will have no problem. Those
sites that do not fetch this new host table will unable to reach
Wisconsin until they do. I will be mailing all site administrators
Wednesday to notify them of this change.
