Does anyone have any figures for typical and peak number of packets per
minute (or second, or hour...) handled by ARPAnet IMPs? What I am trying
to figure out is the following:
I am thinking of making a radio gateway to a local-area network.
Assuming that the radio gateway can handle packets at about 60K bits per
second, how many nodes can be using the gateway before quality of service
falls below that offered by the ARPAnet? I realize that the radio net-
work's link-level control will have a major influence on throughput, and
I expect to use something other than an ALOHA/Ethernet approach.
Thanks for any responses.
