One of the objections to 'rwho' is that it broadcasts. It would be like
having one mailing list in usenet, and reading all the junk to get to the good
stuff. What features would be needed on the local ethernet, and in the
cooperating U**'s, to have such services as 'rwho' multicast instead of
broadcast? How would the multicast address be assigned? How would you do it
on other nets which do not have logical addressing or multicast?

Is RFC966 (Deering and Cheriton, Host Groups: A Multicast Extension to the
Internet Protocol) a framework?
