The word I got from DEC regarding Ultrix (after intense questionning) is that
it supports tcp/ip and DECnet, but does not provide any gateway function.
We urged them to provide such a gateway and even offered to contract with
them to do so, but they said there is not enough market for it, and it is
contrary to company policy. Their policy is to offer token support to
tcp/ip via selling things like Wollongong and Ultrix, but to expend no
real effort on tcp/ip. Instead they are aiming for migtation to future
ISO standards, bypassing tcp/ip. If you get any word to the contrary,
I'd be anxious to hear it.
