The OMB requirement may not be as damaging as it sounds if it simply
requires the vendors to support ISO but doesn't CONSTRAIN them to only

The thing to watch out for is a directive which prohibits all protocols
except ISO. Considering the present state of implementation and test
of that protocol suite, there is still a long way to go before it is
reasonable to consider it robust.
I hope I am not being too sanguine, here. Perhaps another reader
will contribute further insights on this no doubt well-intended
bit of bureaucracy.
